Fotosíntesis
by Wiphala
Botanical prints from light, plants and time
I'm Kat Beyle, a documentary photographer and visual artist, and Fotosíntesis is where that practice meets my love of plants.
Cyanotype and anthotype are two of photography's oldest processes, and among the most alive. I take my own photographic negatives and combine them with elements straight from nature: pressed leaves, mushroom gills, delicate plant structures, layered with natural pigments like turmeric.
The name says it plainly: fotosíntesis, photosynthesis, light and living things, making an image together. It's photography stripped back to its most elemental form and it's become the practice I love most. No two ever come out quite the same.

Workshops
I run small-group workshops introducing people to the cyanotype and anthotype process, no photography or art background needed. It's a slow, sensory, genuinely calming experience: choosing leaves and botanical shapes, arranging them by hand and watching an image quietly appear in the sun.
I offer sessions tailored for:
Retirement communities: a gentle, seated-friendly activity that connects participants with nature, colour and memory.
Kids' groups: a playful mix of art and light-touch science (sunlight! chemistry! plants!) that keeps small hands busy and curious.
Want a workshop?
If you're picturing your group with hands full of leaves and sunlight, let's make it happen. Get in touch and let's talk about what a session could look like for you.
